Little things that go a long way: Meetings

Leadership is a lifestyle.

It’s the sum of all the habits that you consciously practice everyday in order to be a good leader (the micro) weighted against the impact you’ve made on the overall mission (the marco).

In this series, we’re going to explore what we can support you with – the micro. All the little things that take work and practice, the habits of a high performing leader.

Part 1 – Meetings

Yesterday my micro moment was represented in the morning Executive Team meeting I am now a part of. Leadership is important to me. I know that as leaders, it’s our responsibility to role model our values and those of the organization we serve, while also ensuring we are focused on the immediate goals in context of the mission. I did the latter but did not do the former to the extent I would usually.

Upon reflection I realized I had not sufficiently prepared for the meeting and more importantly, given myself the time to get grounded in what was most important in the day or that meeting.

This is the practice I am choosing to come back to today. Making space to think about each moment or meeting in the day. And what’s important in that relationship or in service of a shared goal/purpose.

What might you choose to come back to an effective leadership practice for yourself and others today? Please share and we’ll make sure we add it to the series!
